Shaving is a routine for those who wants to maintain proper facial hair style. However, what many don¡¯t maintain is the razor that could be rusting away and becoming blunt after each use and over time.

Many companies strongly recommend changing razors regularly between a week and a month depending on the brand and style of razor. Should you ignore this advice and leave your razor as is, the consequences are critical. Microban research showed that there can be nearly 5 million bacteria just on a single disposable wet razor handle. Observation on the razor blades showed even more shocking results of between 4 and 100 million bacteria.

Jessica Krant, a certified dermatologist in New York has stated that not changing your razor can result in facial cuts and razor burns. Even if it doesn¡¯t look like it, shaving causes microscopic razor cuts, creating a pathway for rust and bacteria left on the razor to intrude. Intrusion of bacteria leads to inflammation on the skin and can worsen to folliculitis. One mistake of not changing your razor could result in itchy burning red bumps.

So, what is the best way to avoid such situations? The obvious answer is changing your razor blade periodically. If you don¡¯t have any spare razor, an alternative, though very inferior, solution is to clean the razor by washing away any hair/pus/dead skin cells off and keeping it away from as much humidity as possible. Biovit has also taken up interest in the issue with our natural antimicrobial protein as it has shown to be effective against inflammations. We believe that our technology could potentially lengthen the lifespan of each razor, away from as much bacteria as possible.
